“Psychedelic duo Simon Posford and Raja Ram are Shpongle, an ambient / electronica project formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. After that event, they entered the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, “…And The Day Turned To Night,” which was featured on Twisted Records label compilation titled Eclipse. Shpongle’s full-length debut album, Are You Shpongled? was released in early 1999. Their sophomore effort, Tales Of The Inexpressible arrived in 2001 and featured the additions of Spanish and East Asian instrumentation. In 2005, the duo released their third album, Nothing Lasts…but Nothing Is Lost (Remastered, 2019) which was intended to be their final project. However, Shpongle returned in 2009 with Ineffable Mysteries, which incorporated world music themes, and the God Particle EP in 2010. Museum of Consciousness followed in 2013. Their sixth album, the appropriately titled Codex VI was released in 2017. In 2019 they played 2 sold out shows at Red Rocks, Colorado with the full live band. Work has already started on their 7th studio album to follow in 2022.”

Classically trained in trumpet and piano, not only did his musical focus shift, but he returned to Bend, Oregon where he now hosts @BeatLabRadio, one of the only bass music radio shows still broadcasting on FM on the west coast. When not running the radio show, he produces live shows and plays at clubs and festivals, He focuses on feeding his crowds with high energy mash-ups and mixes in every set.

When it comes to artistic authenticity and ingenuity, tsimba sets the bar extremely high with his hard-hitting, genre-defying production and mind-melting DJ sets. Turning heads across the country with his ‘Future Roots Sound’, tsimba is undoubtedly building a reputation as one of the most dynamic, exciting artists in the mid-tempo/heavy bass scene. His background as a percussionist fuels his ability to build songs around complex, out-of-the-box percussion rhythms, while simultaneously drawing on inspiration from both western and eastern traditional music to create his distinctive sound. Remaining indifferent toward fads and what others are doing, tsimba is a genuine trailblazer in the realms of bass music, continually pushing the envelope. His mission is to not only create music that people will love, but to inspire and create an art form that celebrates all aspects of rhythm.”

I have played as a resident DJ for my beloved Moontribe community and other fantastic crews of desert dancers, the delightful folks at Tropical and Lightning in a Bottle, and have had my mixes featured on several online radio shows and blogs. Starting in 2020 I created a Twitch channel where I feature several shows weekly, and I am the resident DJ for Behind the Sky music.
